Über-gänge : die Grenze als Metapher und Wirklichkeit
Der Gedanke, dass der Grenzverlauf keineswegs eine irgendwie natürliche bzw. organische Tatsache ist, sondern das Ergebnis einer kulturellen, sozialen und politischen Konstruktion darstellt, nehme ich als Ausgangspunkt zu einigen eigentlich verstreuten und nicht systematischen Überlegungen über den Begriff der Grenze […]. Denn wenn man von Übergängen spricht, wird da explizit oder implizit vorausgesetzt, dass irgendeine Grenze überschritten werden soll und überschritten werden kann. Im gegenwärtigen Diskurs – bei solchen Begriffen wie z.B. "grenzüberschreitender Dialog", "der Abbau von Grenzen" und Ähnliches – ist dieser Gedanke der prinzipiellen Durchlässigkeit von Grenzen stark präsent. Nun bedarf die gegenwärtige Beliebtheit des Begriffs der Grenze auch und gerade in den Kulturwissenschaften der sorgfältigen Differenzierung und hier kann nur ein kontextualistischer Zugang weiterhelfen. In der Tat huldigen die sogenannten "border studies" allzu oft einem allgemein euphorischen Begriff der Grenze als Ort der Begegnung, des Austauschs, als Ort letztendlich einer Hybridisierung, deren Hauptmerkmal eine grundsätzliche Ambiguitätstoleranz sein soll.

Europa Oxalà
L'exposition Europa Oxalà est une exposition itinérante qui s'ouvre tout d'abord au MUCEM à Marseille du 20 octobre 2021 au 16 janvier 2022, avant de voyager vers le Portugal à la Fondation Calouste Gulbenkian (Lisbonne) du 3 mars au 30 mai 2022, puis à Tervuren, au Musée royal de l'Afrique centrale à Tervuren du 6 octobre 2022 au 5 mars 2023. En plus de son catalogue d'exposition, ce livre d'essais apporte un autre éclairage sur les artistes contemporains exposés.
